open days & photo shoots

Yesterday I went down to London, to the MA fashion photography open day at the London College of Fashion. I was considering applying for October, so thought it'd be useful to go down.

We had a talk with the lecturer of the course, which gave a great insight into the course. They like photographers who push the boundaries of fashion photography, and use their images to give a message. It is a hard course to get on to, and very competitive. However, I am definitely going to apply and see what happens. Over the weekend I am going to get my portfolio together.

The projects that I am working on for the rest of this year are:

1.Make do and Mend - Fashion photography books (explained more below)
2. Drop Dead Gorgeous - A conceptual photo shoot in reaction to the inhumane conditions at clothing factories
3. Festival Fashion - A photo shoot for a fashion design student, based on festival fashion.
4. Personal shoots/portfolio

Today I did a photo shoot for my Make do and Mend project. This is my main project, which is a series of fashion photography books, documenting the back catalogue of my friend on the textile design for fashion course's garments. She is producing adjustable fashion, which is a modern 'make do and mend'. My photo shoots have a 1940's feel, to link with the original make do and mend in the war. The photo shoot today was in a church, which had the vintage feel that I was looking for. I really like how these images turned out, I just need to select my favourites.
